In This Video You are Going To Learn About Is It Fine To Use Void() & Void(Main) In C & C To join Any Courses Please Visit : 🤍 Join Our Whatsapp Group: 🤍 In this video, you are going to learn, In C the default return type of main is void, i.e. main() will not return anything. But, in C default return type of main is int, i.e. main() will return an integer value by default. In C, void main() has no defined(legit) usage, and it can sometimes throw garbage results or an error. However, main() is used to denote the main function which takes no arguments and returns an integer data type. The definition is not and never has been C, nor has it even been C. See the ISO C standard 3.6.1[2] or the ISO C standard 5.1.2.2.1. for more. Is void main valid in C? No. It's non-standard. The standard prototype of main is int main() with the optional command line arguments argc and argv . The int returned by main() is a way for a program to return a value to the system that invokes it From a practical viewpoint, there's no real difference. With int main(void), you're explicitly stating that main takes no parameters, so you can't invoke it with any. With int main(), you're leaving open the possibility of invoking main with some parameters. However, except in strange situations like code golf or intentionally obfuscated code, you don't invoke main anyway it's the entry point to the program, so it's automatically invoked by the startup code. The startup code will pass the command line arguments anyway, so your choices don't change how it's invoked, only whether you use or ignore the parameters that get passed. C is a procedural language and everything that is written in C is in form of procedures , functions and subroutines, be it the source program or any other thing. Every program program in C starts with a main function, and since every function must return something, be it a number, char, string or any data structure, the main function must return something, by which the compiler will know that the function has returned a value and so the execution has been done successfully, however it is solely for the compiler, for successful working of your programme, the algorithm which you implement inside the main function must be correct.
