Ghoul Sighting on Tape (Cryptid)

A ghoul is an Islamic Demon. In ancient Arabian folklore, the ghūl (Arabic: literally demon) dwells in burial grounds and other uninhabited places. The ghul is a fiendish type of jinn believed to be sired by Iblis. A ghul is also a desert-dwelling, shapeshifting, evil demon that can assume the guise of an animal, especially a hyena. It lures unwary people into the desert wastes or abandoned places to slay and devour them. The creature also preys on young children, drinks blood, steals coins, and eats the dead, then taking the form of the person most recently eaten. In the Arabic language, the female form is given as ghouleh and the plural is ghilan. In colloquial Arabic, the term is sometimes used to describe a greedy or gluttonous individual. A ghoul in the later stages of starvation will be extremely thin and pale, with veins clearly visible through the skin, and will have long, claw-like nails.

1001nights (* Arabian nights | Tale of the King's Son and the She Ghoul

Performed, translated and re-interpreted by Shahrazads across time, place, language and medium, "1001 Nights" or "The Arabian Nights" collection of entertaining stories-within-stories holds a unique & magical power to * i n f i n i t e l y * inspire & heal the human spirit... TIKTOK READING (* 14th Century Manuscript (* Strung together by oral storytellers in ancient India and east Asia, the collection passed through central Asia and Persia and was eventually written down in Baghdad during the Abbasid Empire (~9th century BCE, according to scholars), during a cultural "Golden Age" when art and applied sciences flourished in the ancient Islamic Caliphate and spread throughout the world! (* The earliest surviving translation is known as the Fourteenth-Century Syrian Manuscript. After centuries of translations and reinterpretations, this uniquely preserved version was given its due and masterfully edited and updated in Arabic by Muhsin Mahdi in 1984, a work that Husain Haddawy translated into the seminal English version of the Nights in 1990. (* This project started sporadically during pandemic isolation (Dec 2021), when I decided I wanted nothing more to do with my time than create a TikTok version of The Arabian Nights... The story-within-the-story is that I also happened to write a screenplay inspired by the Nights after an extended stay with family in the UAE in 2019, following a leap of faith departure from a career and 10+ years in NYC, which included a degree in "Middle Eastern Studies" from NYU, after growing up in Philadelphia with "architects" for parents, mom from Philly and dad from... Baghdad. (* Please email z🤍 for any inquiries!

Souad Massi - Ya Raoui (Algerian Arabic) Lyrics + Translation - سعاد ماسي - يالراوي

*Luja Bint El-Ghoula is a local fairytale. From the sources I found online, the phrase "hajeetak majeetak" seems to be like what a person in Algeria would say before someone begins a story or says a riddle. (if anyone's Algerian here and can confirm or disprove this; please do) The beautiful illustration is by Evan Turk. For the next 4 or 5 weeks, we will be publishing music by female artists we feel deserve more recognition, that is not to say that they are not already popular locally; however, we still feel that the female representatives of the modern Arabic song have become popular because of the way they look and because of connections, and not because their music deserves recognition. Other female artists throughout the Arab world have been constantly denied the spotlight, despite them deserving to bask in it for all what they contributed to the Arabic music scene, whether in terms of performance, lyrics or musical composition. Allow us then, to present you with the music of those who elevated the modern Arabic music level with their originality and genuine passion for songs. WEEK 1: Rim Banna (Palestine) & Nabyla Maan (Morocco) WEEK 2: Souad Massi (Algeria) & Nancy Ajaj (Sudan) & AlSarah & The Nubatones (Sudan) WEEK 3: ??? & ??? WEEK 4: ??? & ??? Week 5: ??? & ??? - Souad Massi (سعاد ماسي), born August 23, 1972, is an Algerian Berber singer, songwriter and guitarist. She began her career performing in the Kabyle political rock band Atakor, before leaving the country following a series of death threats. In 1999, Massi performed at the Femmes d'Algerie concert in Paris, which led to a recording contract with Island Records. Massi's music, which prominently features the acoustic guitar, displays Western musical style influences such as rock, country or the Portuguese fado but sometimes incorporates oriental musical influences and oriental instruments like the oud as well as African musical stylings. Massi sings in Classical Arabic, Algerian Arabic, French, occasionally in English, and in the Berber language, Kabyle, often employing more than one language in the same song.

There will be nothing wrong to say that in Arab, the oud is considered to be the oldest musical instruments. In fact, it is the most central instrument in the Middle Eastern music tradition. Some others believe that it is the ancestor of the Pharaohnic Egyptian Nefer, whereas, some others say that this instrument is the forebear of the ancient Persian barbat. Beside this, oud is also known as the ancestor of the European lute. is a type of bass drum[1] that is commonly found in Arabic percussion. Usually, it is played along with the Tabla, Goblet drum, Darabuka, Riq (tambourine), and Daf (frame drum.) Duhulla, sometimes referred to as Doholla, or Bass Darabuka, is mostly found across the Middle East. Used mostly in festival settings,[2] it is part of many trans-regional traditional music and dance across the Arab world.

Jinn are powerful, emotional beings capable of living for thousands of years. Usually invisible to the human eye, they can take any form to appear to humans. Once worshipped in ancient Arabic cultures, the jinni is now known for it’s wish-granting capabilities. This episode explains how jinn became a popular character in fiction, while looking at how their origins continue to influence Islamic cultures today. From the Qur’an to The Thousand and One Nights, the story of Aladdin to I Dream of Jeannie and everything in between—the jinn are more than just a being trapped in a lamp who grants wishes. They’re powerful, intellectual entities whose stories are woven into ancient Islamic culture. #jinn #genie #aladdin #MonstrumPBS Written and Hosted by: Emily Zarka Director: David Schulte Executive Producer: Amanda Fox Producer: Stephanie Noone Illustrator: Samuel Allen Editor: Derek Borsheim Produced by Spotzen for PBS Digital Studios. A ghoul (Arabic: غول, ghūl) is a demon-like being or monstrous humanoid. The concept originated in pre-Islamic Arabian religion,[1] associated with graveyards and the consumption of human flesh. Modern fiction often uses the term to label a certain kind of undead monster.

What is Ghoul | Teaser Trailer [HD] | Netflix

Paint the symbol with your blood, and sell your soul to the demon. Summon the Ghoul and let it prey on their darkest secrets. Ghoul streaming only on Netflix on 24th August.

A ghoul is a folkloric monster or evil spirit associated with graveyards and consuming human flesh, often classified as undead. The oldest surviving literature that mention ghouls is likely One Thousand and One Nights. The term was first used in English literature in 1786, in William Beckford's Orientalist novel Vathek, which describes the ghūl of Arabian folklore. By extension, the word ghoul is also used in a derogatory sense to refer to a person who delights in the macabre, or whose profession is linked directly to death, such as a gravedigger or graverobber.
