After about three years of behind the scenes work, our 2002 Mr2 Spyder is finally finished. We’ve repaired the quarter panel. Replaced fenders, hood, headlights and numerous suspension components. It has a brand new black convertible top, seat bottom covers and 4 brand new tires. I hope this is the last of the big stuff, and this summer it will provide us with miles of smiles and worry free cruising. Benvenuti nella seconda puntata dedicata alla Toyota mr2, dopo aver eseguito dei lavori di manutenzione e upgrade la proviamo su strada.
2020 turned out to be a bit weird. But if there's one good thing I'll remember it by is that I finally got to drive my MR2 close to how much I planned. I planned a big road trip and going across borders, but covid killed that plan fast. So I racked up quite a bit of miles on the local mountain roads. I got to know the aw11 chassis a bit better and understand it better, which proved to be a much bigger eye-opener than I expected. I also spent many hours listening to the bike carb 4age screaming behind my head and that's always time well spent. The conclusions? The aw11 is a genuinely good chassis. It's not as balanced as an mx5 but once you get to know it and spend more time near its limits you will see where it shines. Brake early, and get on the power early and the aw11 mr2 can go flat out through corners through which the vast majority of cars can not. If you've spent most of your time driving FF cars the mid-engined setup will be a bit weird. But once you break the ice and stay on throttle through a corner where you otherwise wouldn't do so, you will want more and you will start pushing that threshold and keep surprising yourself how far the chassis can actually go. I have also come to realize the extent to which peak horsepower is irrelevant on a tight twisty road. We all know this, but seeing it and feeling it over and over in practice is another dimension. Many a modern car will make the mr2 look kinda slow on the highway, but on a tight road more modern cars need a lot of suspension and a lot of driving talent to even have a chance of standing toe to toe with this absolutely ancient wedge. This alone is a bit mind boggling as most information outlets try to convince us that newer is better. In many things, sure, but definitely not in all. Another thing I learned is that to enjoy this car it really needs to be driven hard. For me, this became the only way to experience it in its true form and actually enjoy it. Babying it and cruising in it too much somehow blurs the connection I have with it and I start questioning what's the point of it? It's not comfy, it's loud, it's not practical, it's not frugal, I don't enjoy detailing or washing it so why do I own it? The answer to this question can't be expressed in words, but only through driving it the way it's supposed to be driven. Follow 🤍ficacrew on IG - he's the man that made this video possible. Pieter Zeelie´s Toyota MR2 Monster powered by Turbocharged 2GR V6 engine evolved tremendously during the last year and faced the Simola HillClimb in full force. Now producing around 830Hp, it also benefitted from a pretty considerable weight loss, losing around 80Kg in overall weight, tipping the scales nowadays at a very respectable 1020Kg. But probably the biggest change was the implementation of a full race spec double wishbone setup with custom CNC alluminum uprights and stronger hubs and wheel bearings, making the car´s behaviour much more predictable and eliminating a lot of the traction issues it suffered in the past. Of course Aerodynamically it continued its evolution sporting an even more dramatic version of the APR Bodykit inspired on the legendary Super GT Toyota MR-S that used to race in Japan in the early 2000´s. All this made for car capable of finally breaking into the Top 10 Fastest Modified Saloon Class machines in Knysna Speed Festival, all while posting a very very quick 40,9 second best chrono during the event. On the video you can watch two different versions onboard of said run, with the second including Data Display. Unfortunately, light exposure was too high on the second clip, hence why we used both on the video.

Vannak sportkocsik, amik elsősorban a lóerőről szólnak. Vannak olyanok, melyek a nyitott tető élvezetéről, és vannak olyanok is, amik a vezetési élményt célozzák. Penge kormánnyal, engedelmes futóművel, finom váltóval, és olyan vezetői helyzettel, ami kiszolgálja a pilótát kiélezett helyzetben is. A Toyota MR2 AW11 változata, talán leginkább az utóbbi kategóriába esik. Mert bár a napfénytető kiemelhető, sőt facelift után T-Top is készült belőle, azért annyira nem nyitott, mint egy MX-5, és az egy tonnás saját tömegre elosztva a katalizátoros 4AGE-ből felszabaduló 116 lóerő sem számít soknak. Join this channel to get access to perks: 🤍 In the world of Japanese sports cars, few are as iconic as the Toyota MR2. Which was First introduced in 1984, and the MR2 quickly gained a reputation for being a fun and affordable mid-engine sports car. The W10 MR2, the first generation of the car, was designed to be a nimble and lightweight sports car that would compete with the likes of the Mazda RX-7 and the Porsche 944. Its mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout allowed for a perfect 50/50 weight distribution, giving the car exceptional handling and balance. In 1989, Toyota introduced the second generation of the MR2, the W20. This version of the car featured a more aerodynamic design and a new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, which produced up to 200 horsepower. The W20 MR2 was praised for its impressive performance and handling, and it quickly became a favorite among driving enthusiasts. Then came the third generation of the MR2, the W30, was introduced in 1999. Unlike its predecessors, the W30 featured a more rounded and modern design, with a convertible top option. The car was also available with a new sequential manual transmission, which provided lightning-fast shifts and enhanced driving dynamics. Throughout its history, the MR2 has also made a name for itself in motorsports, with various racing teams and drivers competing in events around the world. In 1990, Toyota even entered a specially modified MR2 in the Le Mans 24-hour race, finishing 9th overall. While Toyota stopped producing the MR2 in 2007, rumors have persisted for years that the company is working on a successor to the beloved sports car. But in 2021 we got our first look at the possible MR2 successor. In mid-December 2021, Toyota shook the automotive world with its latest creation: the Sports EV. This conceptual sports car boasts a purely electric powertrain and features Gazoo Racing badging. Enthusiasts were quick to see it as a spiritual successor to the iconic MR2, with its short overhangs, large air intakes, and plenty of carbon fiber. Rumoured removable targa top, it's sure to turn heads wherever it goes. But this concept left some of us wanting more. You see in 2021 it seemed like this car would be fully electric. But now we got some more juicy information from the Japanese automaker. According to a new report from Japan, the company is still interested in bringing back the MR2 with a new, affordable mid-engined sports car. Best Car magazine reports that this "baby sports car" is being co-developed with Suzuki and Daihatsu, and that it's set to feature a turbocharged 1.0-liter engine producing nearly 120 horsepower and 200 Newton-meters of torque. Now, while that may not sound like much, the "Midship Sports" - as it's being called - is said to weigh just 1,000 kilograms. Which is about as light as the base Mazda MX-5, which has a 1.5-liter engine with 129 horsepower and 150 Newton-meters of torque. So,it might not be crazy but it will sure as hell be fun, and with such a high torque figure we know that it will feature some sort of forced induction aswell, which means cool spooly noises. Now, Suzuki is reportedly developing the engine, while the front suspension will be adapted from the current-generation Yaris. As for the styling, that is said to take cues from the Daihatsu Copen, the rendering published by Best Car shows a sleeker sports car that takes itself more seriously. #MR2 #Toyota #JDM
