Ричард Айкен — член Полицейского СпецОтдела "S.T.A.R.S." (прикреплен к Группе: "Браво") Выполнял функции Специалистом по Связи. Ричард Айкен "позитивный и светлый парень", который всегда тепло приветствовал новобранцев и имел хорошие отношения с сослуживцами. Несмотря на молодые годы, считалось, что он способен сохранять хладнокровие и спокойствие в разных тяжелых ситуациях. У него была девушка, по имени Бриджит. Ричарду было поручено заботиться о новобранце "S.T.A.R.S." - молодой девушке Ребекке Чемберс (Медик). 23 июля 1998 года, во время странных убийств в арклейском лесу Группа: "Браво" (в которую входил Ричард), была направлен на расследование происшествия. Рядом с грузовиком были найдены трупы конвоиров-полицейских, но тела Коэна нигде не было, поэтому Энрико Марини (командир отряда "Браво") решил, что Коэн сам убил Конвоиров и выбрался на свободу. В связи с этим было принято решение разделиться, осмотреть местность и найти его. Ребекка Чемберс и Эдвард Дьюи начали прочесывать лес, а остальные бойцы двинулись к заброшенному "Особняку Спенсера", расположенного неподалеку. Достигнув "Особняка", команда решает осмотреть здание. В "Особняке" бойцы S.T.A.R.S. подвергаются атаке Б.О.О... Ричард довольно длительное время продержался в "Особняке", после чего сумел встретиться с Ребеккой Чемберс (которая отсыпалась после событий Resident Evil 0) в "Резиденции Ученых", расположенного неподалеку от "Особняка". Совместно они начали поиски Энрико Марини - командира отряда "Браво". При этом Ричард всячески помогал и поддерживал самого молодого члена отряда - Бэкки (так он её называл...). Вдвоем они обыскивали "Особняк", отчаянно пытаясь найти Марини, чтобы потом выбраться из этого места и позвать помощь. В конце концов двое подверглись нападению Б.О.О.-Босса - гигантской змеи ("Snake"). В ходе столкновения Ричард, спасая Ребекку, сам оказался укушен и отравлен змеиным ядом. В таком состоянии он был найден бойцами отряда "Альфа", появившимися в "Особняке" ночью 24 июля. По Канону " Resident Evil" Ричард Айкен погибает. В различных частях серии Игр " Resident Evil" существуют несколько вариантов гибели Ричарда. Но в конце концов Ричард все-таки погибает... Так или иначе смерть Ричарда наступает в результате его самопожертвования (в различных вариантах смерти: то он спасает Ребекку, то Джил, то Криса...). Перед смертью Ричард успел передать главным героям свою рацию. Но поскольку она была поломана, то рация могла лишь принимать встречные сигналы от Брэда Викерса. Сам Ричард впоследствии умер. В Игре: "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles" можно найти письмо Ричарда, где он объясняет, почему он стал членом S.T.A.R.S. I attended and graduated from a small, religious-oriented private high school. Went on to attend a first year of college at a religious-oriented school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have had no interest in religious matters whatsoever for more than 25 years and don't plan on doing so again. "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution." - Theodosius Dobzhansky I Graduated Oregon State University in 1984 with a bachelor's in Business Administration and two minor courses of study in mathematics / computer science, and naval science. I was commissioned in the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) immediately upon graduation from OSU. After some 8 months attending various schools in San Diego, CA, I traveled off to Yokosuka, Japan to join my first ship, the USS REEVES (CG-24), where I served from 1984-1987 as the Assistant Missiles Officer, First Lieutenant, and then finally, Electrical Officer. After those first three years in Japan, I crossed the pier for another two years, joining the U.S. SEVENTH FLEET embarked aboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19). From 1988-1989 I was both the Assistant Fleet Scheduling Officer and the Assistant Logistics Officer. I managed a fuel budget of $180 million. I left Japan after five years and headed to Monterey, California, where I was a student at the Defense Language Institute for the latter half of 1989. Upon successful completion of the French language course, I headed to Toulon, France, where from late 1989 early 1992 I took up duties an exchange officer with the French Navy: first aboard the FNS COLBERT (C 611), and later, the FNS DUQUESNE (D 603), both as the Navigator. I left the US Navy in 1992 and returned to the U.S., San Francisco Bay Area. After a few false starts in entrepreneurial endeavors, I started a company in my bedroom in the summer of 1993 that evolved into what is today, Provanta Corp. I still regularly harass a modest cabal of employees. Activity wise, I took up the sport of Hang-Gliding in 1996, and powered aircraft in 2005. Though I've soloed in the powered plane, I've yet to complete licensing requirements but plan too someday. I also fly sailplanes now and then. Dr Michael Scott, University of Cambridge Abstract It’s a question we have always been asking: what was life like in the ancient world? But just as interesting and important is a slightly different one: how have we, over the past centuries, chosen to examine and answer that question? This lecture will focus on the changing attitudes to telling the story of the ancient past, and particularly the weird and wonderful world of ancient Greece. It will investigate the questions we have asked, the ways in which we have gone about answering them, and the resulting pictures of life in the ancient Greek world that we have created, from the first characterizations of ancient Greece by the Romans to the latest cutting-edge 21st century scholarship. In a year when the Olympics come to Britain, and our minds turn inescapably towards the connection between the ancient Greek world and our own, there is no more important time to think about just how we know what life was like in the ancient world. By telling such a story, and by demonstrating how we are always implicated in creating the picture of our past, this lecture will argue that the question ‘what was life like in the ancient world’ tells us as much about ourselves as it does about the ancients. Biography Dr Michael Scott is a Research Associate and Affiliated Lecturer at Cambridge, and formally the Moses and Mary Finley Fellow in Ancient History at Darwin College. He has written on a variety of ancient Greek and Roman world themes and places for both academic and trade publishers (Cambridge UP, Princeton UP, Wiley-Blackwell, Icon). During his time as research fellow at Darwin, he was a co-organiser of the 2010 Darwin Lecture series on Risk, and is looking forward to this experience on the other side of the fence as speaker. Michael is committed to communicating his knowledge of the ancient world to as wide an audience as possible, and is a regular speaker at schools and school conferences around the country, as well as being part of the Mayor of London’s Olympics 2012 ‘Classics in Schools’ initiative and of the Olympics 2012 Cultural Programme. Tributary Streams of a Healing River is an in depth study of restorative justice with over 14 hrs of video on 6 DVDs. (available from Heartspeak Productions 🤍heartspeakproductions.ca) Speakers Bio: Dennis was the president of Community Justice Associates. For 16 years he served as the Director of the Deschutes County Department of Community Justice in Oregon. There he initiated a variety of juvenile and adult corrections programs that gained national attention. Dennis has written two books and over 30 published articles. His book on probation is the most widely distributed journal in the history of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. Over the past decade Dennis provided technical assistance to all 50 states. Nearly 30 states have revamped their entire juvenile justice system based on Dennis' writings on the Balanced Approach to Juvenile Justice. The U.S. Department of State has distributed his writings to over 250 countries and his work is now being utilized worldwide as a foundation for justice system reform. Dennis was honored with several awards including the Sam Houston State Award for the Nation's Outstanding Publication on Community Corrections. In 1998, the United States Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention recognized Dennis as one of five citizens who have had the most positive influence on the nation's juvenile justice system. In the year 2000, the Deschutes County Community Youth Investment Program, a program designed by Dennis, was honoured as one of the top 25 innovations in American government. Dennis passed away in February 2007 leaving behind his wife Nancy and his five daughters; Tracy, Shannon, Caitlin, Kelly and Molly. Thank you Dennis for all your contributions!
